I am an aging prog rocker and needless to say sitting in the balcony on a bar stool against a wall is not the greatest....but despite my sore butt, I was in absolute Heaven all night and I would do it again to see him in concert. Actually the hardest part for me was when I was taking photos (I had a photo pass and could take photos for the first three songs) and being right next to the stage (that is why I got such incredible photos) but having to squat or crawl on my knees in order to not block any views of the patrons. These old knees took a beating!

It was a great evening. The Park West with a "Sell-Out" crowd is not that enjoyable, but I had a nice position leaning on the bar.
Nick Beggs is an incredible musician (as is the rest of the band). I was standing about 10 feet away from him the following night in Minneapolis, at The Fine Line. He was totally getting into it, with some wild facial expressions and constant eye contact with the audience. He's come a long way from Kajagoogoo (Too Shy).
The set list in Minneapolis was slightly altered. Sectarian and Radio Active Toy were removed. In their place No Part of Me, Remainder the Black Dog sequed into No Twilight Within the Courts of the Sun and Ljudet Innan (a Storm Corrosion song).
I enjoyed both nights, but was not too thrilled with having to stand for three or four hours per night.
The saving grace for the show in Minneapolis was getting Nick & Theo to autograph Nick's comic book "Steven Wilson's day off".

I look forward to the next round, no matter which band he plays with.

Correction: As I could not hear the names of the band members clearly as they were introduced, I went to a website to get their names and proper spellings, sadly the bass player's name was not updated on the site and in the review I incorrectly identified him as Michael Devin (he has not played with the band for two years). The bass player was Dorian Heartsong. Thanks to Stephen LeBlanc, the talented multi-instrumentalist in the band who brought this to my attention.

Excellent review. And exciting to watch the debut of granddaughter Abby Anderson (11) as Zuzu, along
with her dad, our son Paul Anderson, pictured in his role as sound effects/piano background man!

Talk about "Pull Me Into The Concert" why don't you!
I've been recently introduced to this website and I giggle with tickle at the thought of reading yet another upclose and personal review from Debbie Pollack. This girl all but imaginates you to sit a birds eye view of the show and I do mean I feel like I've been there with her in the audience. She captures the mood of the music and you can almost hear the beat and a trip down memory lane only just happened like yesterday....Or at least that's how it felt reading this review today.
Thanks Debbie, and continue to bring it on home for me, you Rock. Sharon

Decent review of an excellent, five star concert. Ian Anderson at 65 years old made all of us elderly folk very proud. He has never let me down at over 20+ concerts dating back to October 1972 @ Detroit's
Cobo Hall where he in fact did the entire Thick as a Brick in its entirety. He started the first 45 minutes of that show by playing TAAB and then stated whimsically: "and for our second song".... and went into most of the Aqualung album! Great memories of the most underrated musical genius of my generation. This guy is not in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?! Are you kidding me?!

Amen! I love what you said about Neal & band, you definitely got it right. I caught the Denver show, and it was everything the Chicago show was, except Eric Gillette played the drums on Wild Horses and received quite a compliment from Mike Portnoy! You are correct, there is a supernatural quality to Neal's music, a passion and love behind it that makes it so special. I only wish more people would open there hearts to appreciate it!

wow, we just paid huge bucks to see this gas bag play at Wildwood Springs Lodge in Steelville. I guess the opening act guy had to take a 2-hour crap because he must of been too busy to accompany the firefall guy to help Dave out. The two man show devolved into this bizzare beatles medley. and a funny thing happened when one of the restless (yes talkative about how piss poor of a show they were witnessing) paying fans asked him if he knew any Dave Mason songs. All said, Dave played for about an hour and missed at least 6 of his recognizable hits. i'm a fan of Dave's since 1972 and that was the last time i'll pay to see this pompous ass embarass himself. It is gonna take a couple or maybe ten straight listens to "at his best" to get straight again with Dave Mason. one more note, i agree with Dave's politics when he started ranting about getting that socialist out of office and it was comical to see all the lefty's collective heads start to explode, but come on dude, nobody paid to hear your politics. just shut up and sing.
